Day 14: Seattle

Today was our last day with Lekha, and we spent it by performing typical tourist tasks. Ingeniously, Kelly cooked up a plan to take the hotel’s free shuttle to the airport, from which we took the light rail downtown.

We ate breakfast at Pike Place Market, combining a few unusual pastries from Piroshky Piroshky and Le Panier before we walked around the city. Stopping by Olympic Sculpture Park, we clambered up to Kerry Park, which is a popular spot for its sweeping views of Seattle. The weather was a bit hazy, so we could only make out the silhouette of Mount Rainier in the background, but we did enjoy the grandness of the view. Afterwards, we walked to the Space Needle and took a cab to the Asian quarter of the city. We ate noodles at Chinatown, bingsu at the city’s unofficial Koreatown, and relaxed at Kobe Terrace of Japantown before seeing Lekha off for her ride back to Vancouver.

Meanwhile, Kelly and I returned to our hotel by public transport and drove to our next accommodation – a hotel in Kelso, Washington.

St 112 miles, our drive today was shorter than usual, bringing our total to 4989.
