Kosov and Tetín

Image
My dad and I went cycling this Sunday, an activity that was pitched to me in a rather deceitful manner when my dad said we would be back in time for lunch (which was eaten at five o’clock).  I spent much of the ride cursing because of how wet and rocky the forest paths were, but I think the pictures were worth it.

Karlštejn

Image
On Saturday, my sister Naty and I made a short hike around the castle Karlštejn, leaving our car at the parking lot below the town and ascending to a hill above the castle from the eastern side. We looped back down to the parking lot by walking towards the river once we reached the castle itself.

Svatý Jan pod Skalou and the Peak of Autumn

As the pandemic worsens, people find solace in a variety of things. I, for example, have dedicated myself to long walks with my dog. The colours of autumn have just about reached their peak, and I dread the ugly weather we will have afterwards.

Getting back on the Horse

As a person who hates horse-riding with a passion, perhaps I should have chosen a better idiom for getting back on track, but this was the first to come to mind. In any case, it feels like I am finally getting my life together with a teaching assistant gig at Charles University. It also looks like I might be beginning a part time internship at a local think tank soon. With that taken care of, I can finally focus on finalising my grad school applications.

An Excursion to Křivoklát and an Extemporaneous Newt Rescue

Image
Unlike the beginning of the week (which was filled with uncomfortable interviews), this Sunday was a very pleasantly busy day. Around noon, my sisters, my dog, and I made a trip to the nearby castle Křivoklát. The weather was nice, so the number of tourists without facemasks was huge. In fact, we were the only people wearing them.
